Gisteren naar de tuinbeurs Hof en Huis geweest in Torhout. Die gaat door in het park rond het kasteel d' Aertrycke. We zagen er o.a. een schaapsherder, een smid, veel standen met decoratie en plantjes. Lekkere wafeltjes en mattentaartjes gekocht!
Yesterday we went to a gardenfair in Torhout. It takes place in the garden of an old castle. We saw a shepherd, a smith, lots of stands with gardendecoration and plants. We also bought freshly baked waffles and 'mattentaart' :
'a speciality of the East Flanders city of Geraardsbergen, the
mattentaart (matten = "curd", taart = "tart") is a cheesecakey-like cake
encased in puff pastry. The secret ingredient is the buttermilk used to prepare
the fine dry curd for the cheesecake part. The puff pasty is light and crunchy,
and the cake has a very light crumb, and a delicious tangy sourness.'
Toen we terug thuis waren heb ik 2 oude vogelhuisjes nog een nieuw kleurtje gegeven (mauve/lila), die gaan nu perfect passen bij de mini-genariums die ik op de beurs kocht.
Back home, I painted two old decoration birdhouses, so they fit well with my new flowers.
It looks like grey, but it is light mauve.
